Acting Deputy Institute Director

Born on 4 January 1958 in Bastuny, on the territory of Poland’s Eastern Borderlands.

Graduated from the Civil Engineering Department of the Warsaw University of Technology, with two majors in Construction and Engineering Structures, and in Roads, Streets and Airports. Earned his MSc, Eng degree in bridge construction in 1985.
Earned his PhD in technical science in 1995 at the Construction, Architecture and Environmental Engineering Department of the Poznań University of Technology.

 

Has been working in the Road and Bridge Research Institute since 1986.
Between 1990 and 2001 was the deputy manager of the Bridge Department, and was promoted to the position of the Department’s manager in 2002. On 1 April 2009 was appointed acting Deputy Director of the Institute.

Is a licensed designer and construction site manager for bridge facilities. Between 1994 and 2002 acted as the secretary of the Bridge Facilities Standardization Committee at the Polish Standardization Committee.
In 1993 took a 6-month internship at design and construction companies in Italy.

Author of the RYM-IBDiM method used for determining usable load capacity of bridge objects. In 2004 the method was introduced, by means of a regulation by the General Director of Polish National Roads and Motorways, for common use on all Polish roads. Participated, inter alia, in the reconstruction of Warsaw’s Torunska Route, in the capacity of the scientific and technical supervision coordinator, and in preparation of the functional and use-related program for Warsaw’s Northern Bridge.

A member of the following organizations:
• National Road Building Chamber of Commerce – honorary member;
• Warsaw Chamber of the Bridge Builders’ Association of the Republic of Poland – chairman between 1999 and 2004;
• Polish National Committee of the International Council on Monuments and Sites ICOMOS;
• “Most” Foundation – cooperated, between 1996 and 2004, with the Ukrainian party as a person in charge of technical supervision for the reconstruction of the Castle Bridge in Kamenets Podolskiy;
• Polish Construction Engineers’ Chamber – Secretary of the National Council 2002-2010.

Has earned the following distinctions: 3rd degree award of the Minister of Infrastructure for remarkable creative achievements in architecture and construction – 2002 and 2008 - distinction, Honorary Medal of the Minister of Infrastructure for achievements in the construction sector – 2005.

Author of approximately 100 national and international publications, co-author of 2 patents, as well as over 100 scientific works and expert opinions.

Fond promoter of the history of bridge building, author of numerous articles concerned with load capacity of bridge objects and with reconstruction of historic facilities.
