European Technical Assessment (ETA) - the documented assessment of the performance of a construction product, in relation to its essential characteristics, in accordance with the respective European Assessment Document;

European Assessment Document (EAD) - a document adopted by the organization of TABs for the purposes of issuing European Technical Assessments;

European Technical Approval Guidelines (ETAGs) – guidelines published by EOTA before 1 July 2013 in accordance with Article 11 of Directive 89/106/EEC, which may be used as European Assessment Documents, pursuant to the transitional provisions of Art. 66 (3) of Regulation of the European Parliament and of the Council (EU) No 305/2011;

European Organisation for Technical Assessment (EOTA) – organization associating all Technical Assessment Bodies (TABs) designated by EU and EEA Member States. Its tasks include, among others: drawing up and adopting EADs and coordinating the cooperation between the TABs;

construction product - any product or kit which is produced and placed on the market for incorporation in a permanent manner in construction works or parts thereof and the performance of which has an effect on the performance of the construction works with respect to the basic requirements for construction works;

essential characteristics - those characteristics of the construction product which relate to the basic requirements for construction works;

performance of a construction product - the performance related to the relevant essential characteristics, expressed by level or class, or in a description;

intended use - the intended use of the construction product as defined in the applicable harmonised technical specification;

harmonized technical specifications - harmonized standards and European Assessment Documents;

manufacturer - any natural or legal person who manufactures a construction product or who has such a product designed or manufactured, and markets that product under his name or trademark;

applicant – a natural or legal person submitting an application for an ETA, who may or may not be the ETA-holder;

ETA-holder – a natural or legal person, identified on the cover page of the ETA as the manufacturer.

Basic requirements for construction works.

Basic requirements for construction works in accordance with Annex I to Regulation (EU) No 305/2011:

1.    Mechanical resistance and stability;

2.    Safety in case of fire;

3.    Hygiene, health and the environment;

4.    Safety and accessibility in use;

5.    Protection against noise;

6.    Energy economy and heat retention;

7.    Sustainable use of natural resources.
